Windows 7 Tutorial - Disable Password Reveal ( Eye Symbol ) IE 10

In this Windows 7 tutorial I demonstrate how to disable the password reveal function ( eye symbol ) in password boxes in Internet Explorer 10. The procedure is different depending on what version of Windows 7 you are using, Home Premium or Professional. In Windows 7 Home Premium you start by opening the registry editor. You then go to the key HKEY/local machine/Software/policies/microsoft/internet explorer. You then create a new key called "Main". You then right click within this key and create a new DWORD 32-bit value names "DisablePasswordReveal". You double click on this value and give it a value of 1 to disable the password reveal symbol, 0 to enable it.

In Windows 7 Professional you disable this feature by using the Group Policy Editor, gpedit.msc. You open it by typing "gpedit.msc" into the search box under the start menu. You then

expand ( click at the + sign in front of ) Computer Configuration >

expand the Administrative Templates >
expand the Windows Components >
expand Internet Explorer >
select  Security Features >
left side, double click “Do not display the reveal password button”>
click  the radio dot Enable>
OK when done.
Then restart IE 10.
